secsOur Story
Our story began in the carnival city of Cologne that we both love so much. After a couple months of getting to know each other, Dani had to move away to Frankfurt to follow her job opportunities there.
After a year, Tobi decided to join Dani there. After two wonderful years living together in Frankfurt, we decided to move to Hamburg to be in a bigger city and closer to Tobi’s family and friends. It’s been a year since we’ve been here and finally decided to take the next step in our relationship.
So it is with a lot of joy, that we want to invite you to take part in our special day. If you’re reading this, it means you’re a very important and precious person for us. We couldn’t imagine spending this important day without you. We hope to be blessed with your company so that we can all party, have fun and enjoy life together by the beach, just like we’ve always imagined! ♥

The first image I have of Tobi, as if it were yesterday, is stepping out of Cologne Central Station to see him smiling with the majestic Cathedral behind him. He greeted me directly with a hug, not a „German Hand,“ which I loved. Little did I know, that nice guy would become my best friend, partner in crime, and husband. His kindness, respect, and care for everyone (not to mention his good looks) made me fall for him. I’m so grateful to have him in my life.

FAQ's
Are there any health precautions I should take before traveling to Mexico?
- Ensure your vaccinations are up-to-date, including Hepatitis A and typhoid. Use mosquito repellent to prevent dengue, and drink bottled or purified water to avoid traveler’s diarrhea.
Passport Validity
- Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned stay in Mexico.
Can I attend the wedding if I don't speak Spanish?
- Yes, many locals in tourist areas speak English, and weddings are often organized to make international guests feel comfortable, but learning basic Spanish phrases can enhance your experience. Apps like Google Translate, Duolingo or Memrise can be handy, and some locals might appreciate your effort to communicate in Spanish.
What are the best flight connections from Germany to Tulum and Cancun?
- Cancun: Direct flights from Germany to Cancun are available with airlines like Condor and Eurowings Discover from major cities like Frankfurt. Otherwise, flights with one stopover are offered by airlines such as Lufthansa, British Airways, or KLM, typically via cities like Amsterdam, London, or Madrid.
- Tulum: Lufthansa’s subsidiary, Discover Airlines, now offers a direct flight from Frankfurt to Tulum, starting from December 2024, operating twice a week. This provides a convenient option for travelers heading directly to Tulum from Germany.
How should I move around the area?
- ADO-Bus: An economical and hassle-free option with regular connections between Cancun and Tulum. The buses are comfortable, air-conditioned, and relatively inexpensive. They stop at key points, making them suitable for travelers without a car.
- Private Shuttles: Good for groups or if you prefer a direct service without stops. Many companies offer shuttle services from the airport or hotels in Cancun to Tulum. Booking in advance is advisable.
- Rental Car: Offers flexibility and is ideal for exploring at your own pace. Highway 307 connects Cancun and Tulum, with a travel time of about 1.5 hours. Be aware of local driving habits (a bit more aggressive than you might be used to) and consider full-coverage insurance.
- Uber: Available in Cancun and Tulum, providing a convenient travel option, though expect higher prices during peak times.
- Taxi: Taxis should be avoided if possible. More and more tourists have had bad experiences with taxi companies. The costs are also very unclear and can be extremely overpriced.
- Colectivos: Minibuses that follow fixed routes. They are very cheap but less comfortable and might require transferring vehicles if you’re not going directly to your destination. They are also not the best option if you have luggage.
- Each mode of transportation has its advantages; your choice can depend on your budget, comfort level, and whether you’re traveling alone or in a group. Remember, a rental car gives you the most freedom, but public transportation like the ADO buses can be a cost-effective and easy way to get around.

How safe is the area?
- It is generally safe, especially if sticking to tourist areas. However, usual precautions like avoiding unguarded areas especially at night is advisable. Staying in crowded places will be your best bet.
What are some general safety precautions to avoid scams, theft, or assault in the area?
- Be cautious with your valuables; use hotel safes when possible and try to not carry a lot of cash with you. Avoid displaying expensive items like jewelry, cameras or cellphones openly. As already mentioned, we would strongly recommend you to avoid taxis, but if it is the only option, use reputable taxi services or Uber instead of hailing random cabs. Always agree on taxi fares beforehand or use a taxi meter and make sure to specify in which currency you will be paying. Stay in well-lit areas at night and avoid deserted beaches after dark. Be wary of unsolicited offers for tours or services; always go through trusted sources. If someone comes to you „needing help“, be alert, this might be a trap. Never leave your drinks unattended in bars or restaurants to avoid drink spiking. For currency exchange, use official places, not street changers. If something feels off, trust your instincts and leave the situation.
What currency is used in Mexico, and where can I exchange money?
- The Mexican Peso (MXN) is used. You can exchange money at banks or currency exchange offices in Cancun, Tulum or Playa del Carmen. Many places in tourist areas also accept US dollars, but pesos are preferred and prices in pesos tend to be cheaper.
What kind of weather should I expect during early March?
- Early March in the Riviera Maya is part of the dry season, with warm, sunny days. Expect temperatures between 25-30°C (77-86°F). Evenings can be cooler, so a light jacket might be useful. Sun protection like hats and sunscreen is essential. Some places require organic and riff friendly sunscreen, like the cenotes.
What kind of clothing should I pack for the wedding and the surrounding area?
- Light, airy clothing due to the heat, swimwear for the beaches, elegant attire for the wedding (considering the weather), and comfortable shoes for excursions.
What are the local customs regarding tipping in Mexico?
- Tipping is customary in Mexico. A 10-15% tip is standard in restaurants, and it’s polite to tip service staff like bartenders, tour guides, and hotel staff a small amount for good service.
